FAQs

Does it matter what kind of toothbrush I use?

Dr. Young Shim, Dr. Alan Gerbholz, Dr. Daniel Kenney, Dr. Titus Son and Dr. Tim Wang state that the brand of the toothbrush you use is not as important as the type of bristle on the toothbrush. We recommend using a toothbrush with soft bristles because it will not cause irritation to the gums.

What kind of toothpaste should I use?

Our team at East Texas Dental Group LLC suggests that you use fluoride-containing toothpaste to decrease the risk of decay. You can use toothpaste with a flavor you enjoy—just make sure it is made with fluoride.

How many times do I need to floss a day?

We suggest flossing your teeth at least once per day to help prevent cavities and keep your gums healthy and clean.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to silver and white fillings?

All of our patients are request white fillings. This is mostly because they prefer filling a cavity with a natural-looking substance rather than filling their teeth with silver products. White fillings are also beneficial because they chemically bond to the tooth and strengthen it after it is weakened by decay.

What is the difference between a partial denture and a bridge?

Both products replace missing teeth, but partial dentures are removable while bridges are cemented to your teeth. Many patients prefer to have a bridge rather than removable teeth.
